Audioslave - Revelations

Today is Monday. That can only mean one of one million things. But here it means Music Review Monday. Today I will be featuring the third release of alternate rock supergroup Audioslave: “Revelations”. It looks as if it will be there final release as the singer Chris Cornell has announced he is leaving due to disagreements.
If you are a Tom Morello fan from the days of “Rage Against the Machine” and the earlier “Audioslave” albums then there really isn’t anything new to be had here. Tom’s unique guitar style is prominent, especially in “One and the Same” and “Jewel of the Summertime” but to a lesser extent. Morello style riffs are present layered with poetry from ex-soundgarden front-man Chris Cornell. The hard-rock style of Audioslave does not really fit the beautiful lyrics chosen by Chris Cornell, but you must admire the was he delivers them. Simply a natural born singer.
Audioslave are a band I have both loved and hated, their debut was outstanding and their second coming was graced with inspiration but Revelations is both nothing new and uninspiring. I believe Morello has pretty much hit a wall in terms of inspiration and is reusing old ideas.
Overall 15 / 27 - Nothing new here unless you are new to Morellos unique style.
