EMI to be the first to do the right thing?

EmiI just heard that EMI is going to be the first major record label to offer all of its music in MP3 format without any restrictions. This DRM (Digital Rights Management) free music will be released to the masses over the internet. If the music is as easy to buy as it is on the iTunes Music Store then I am firmly onboard.
This is a step forward for the music industry as DRM hampers online music sales and helps CDs fly off the shelves. If everyone is buying this new DRM free music then sales of CDs will go down and more record labels will jump on the bandwagon and sell their music restriction-free over the internet.

I know for a fact that when I move out of my parents house the majority of my media will not be on CDs and DVDs but rather in digital form on a HD disk for ease of storage. The new proliferation of DRM free music on the internet will help me support the artists (read:record label) whilst keeping a tidy and clutter free room!

Its a win-win situation. Thumbs up EMI!
