Enter Shikari

Electronica, Hardcore, Nu Rave, Screamo. I have heard many names for describing Enter Shikari. But none of them accurately sum up the extreme energy of their live performances, I suggest perhaps “Extremely awesome live” perhaps, maybe it should be conjugated as is popular these days.
Anyway, rewind to last Thursday and picture a huge crowd outside of the old bingo halls in Newcastle. I arrived a little later than most people, only a hour before doors opened. This is usually ample time to be right at the front of the queue, but with the dedication of Enter Shikari fans (or the fact they have nothing better to do) I ended right at the back. Ah well, I’ll push to the front when I finally do get in.
Skip a few shitty support bands and we happen to be almost front center when Shakari come on all guns blazing with the first song of there breakthrough album and their namesake, Enter Shikari. Shit! Everyone is crushed in the wave and I am forced to be helping people up from the floor and retreating a few steps back into a fucking mosh! What a way to start an ecstasy filled night.
The excitement peaked during no sweat and Sorry Your Not a Winner culminating in an arena wide mosh pit during the final chorus. I have been to quite a few gigs in my short time on this earth and I can’t remember seeing a better reception to a band ever, especially at the Academy. Five Thumbs up! Enter Shikari are the sex of the new generation!
