Finding Your Talent

Typed 11th November, 2007 at 10:51 pm

I’ve heard from more than one person that each person has one thing they will excel at beyond the capabilities of other people in the same discipline. Doesn’t really sound too logical to me, because I’ve also heard too many times, practice makes perfect. Now that makes no sense at all, because if you have a talent shouldn’t it require little to no work to make you the best you can be?

Well, yes and no. Mozart didn’t just sit with a pen and paper and several great symphonies just came to mind, he practiced and because he enjoyed what he did he excelled and became one of the greatest composers of all time. Did he have a natural talent for music? I believe he did.

I haven’t found many things, if anything, that has come completely natural to me. I think that my guitar playing has came along quite well but that is simply because I practice alot and enjoy what I do. I am now on a quest to find something that comes entirely natural to me, anyone else want to join in?

Good luck on your quest. As for me, I’ve always been a natural procrastinator.
