Tired of Hanging around coverart

I went to see The Zutons at Carling academy only a few weeks ago, and as such thought I would write a little review of The Zutons new album Tired of Hanging around released the middle of April. Let me first tell you that I enjoyed the first album immensely and I am a big fan of The Zutons, so my review may contain some bias as much as I try not to include it!

The Review

The album is just as upbeat and happy as their debut and just as easy to pick up the words and sing-a-long to those catchy chorus lines. Tired of Hanging around kicks off with the title track, which is a great tune to ease you into the album. The majority of the album is fast and dancy with a couple of slow ballads thrown in for good measure, “You got a friend in me” is just one of these slower songs with less variation to the music and singing.

The new album is very similar to The Zutons debut album, however this is by no means a bad thing as the first album was excellent. Highlights of this new one include the jingly jangly guitar riffs of “Valerie” and catchy debut single “Why wont you give me your love” seeming somehow very appropriate to this new album.

Overall

I believe “Tired of Hanging around” is worth your hard earned money, if you are into this kind of music. Its very poppy and not to everyones taste, I however would reccomend it to anyone and dare them to say they didn’t enjoy at least one track. There is something on here for everyone, fair enough if only one track is for you then you shouldn’t purchase it!
